Fostering the Spirit of the Child

The education of children and young people so as to support their physical, social and emotional development, to help them grow into safe secure adults who can care for and understand themselves, others and the earth.

  • The training and education of adults, particularly teachers and leaders, both for their own personal development and for the development of their work with children and young people.
  • The provision of gentle and generous hospitality.
  • Research and development for protecting and cherishing the world of the child.
  • The provision of religious education as requested.

The beautiful setting of Ringsfield Hall encourages a capacity for wonderment; for experiencing or pondering what might lie beyond the visible, tangible aspects of reality; for interest in the nature and origin of things; and for considering how one is to relate to oneself, others and to the world about us.

..By 'fostering the spirit of the child' we mean :

  • providing the skills for children to grow into safe secure adults.

  • respecting the inner life, the individuality , the experience of each child

  • providing life enriching opportunities in small everyday ways

  • encouraging pleasure in simplicity

  • treating each person as we would like to be treated

  • hearing the voice of the child, in adults too

  • encouraging wonder, delight, imagination and creativity

  • relating to self. others, the world and......

Gentle and Generous Hospitality

We want to create a safe place of welcome for everyone. and offer gentle and generous hospitality by paying attention to group and individual needs. The ambience of the house and grounds is geared towards inspiring guests, and the home-cooked meals encourage an awareness of the connection between the land and our food. Hospitality includes the warmth of personal friendship as well as fires.

A Safe Environment for Recreation and Reflection

The 14 acres of land are large enough, but also intimate enough to provide both peace of mind for group leaders and an ideal space for children to play in freedom, with secret places, games areas, scope for exploration and imagination, and mud! They can enjoy cooperative activities that are helpful in developing an awareness of good social relationships, tolerance and patience.

Space for the Development of Spirituality

The enchanting setting of the Hall allows space for a growing awareness of the human spirit; that is meaning, purpose, awareness of the other, imagination, compassion, creativity and wonder, as well as community and celebration.

Educational Opportunities

ALL GROUPS ARE FREE TO FOLLOW THEIR OWN PROGRAMME DURING THEIR VISIT.

We offer Educational for Sustainable Development programmes for schools, which broadly speaking concerns the ways in which people engage with each other and the natural world;

These cover P.S.E, Citizenship, Sustainability and R.E.

For churches and youth groups we offer sessions on spiritual growth and discipleship.

There are also short recreational sessions available on storytelling and drama, art, shelter building.

The Trust has a Christian foundation, but its purpose and function is not evangelism. Programmes and sessions which offer Christian teaching and spirituality are available only on request.
